RIP December 1, 1993

Today I remember my brother as I do everyday,
16 years ago today
my brother Ricky passed away
at the young age of 37
I never got to say Good-Bye
or to tell him how much
I Loved him
and for that
I look up to Heaven every day
and tell him
"I Love you & Miss you"
I will do that forever until we meet again
December 1, 1993 - December 1, 2009

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;

Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus’ love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust our Father’s Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Blessings ~ Cheryl

  1. What a beautiful post in memory of your brother.....and the poem is so very eloquent. My dear, sweet Mom went home to be with the Lord and my father this year...The grieving never stops, but it does get easier. I can't imagine not knowing for certain that we WILL meet again, and that they are happy in Heaven. I'm sure your brother smiles real big every time you tell him you love him!
    Blessings,

  2. I will bet he is looking down at you smiling every single day knowing that one day you will meet again. I have to believe that we will be together with our loved ones one day. There are too many people that I miss not too.
