HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE

Put your Party hat on and have a wonderful New Years Eve

My mom always had a New Years reminder, don't enter you home after midnight
without someting in your hand.
It signifies that you will have health, happiness and prosperity in the coming new year

So make sure you bring home one of those party favors in your hand
Tomorrow, I'll let you know what my New Years Resolutions will be for 2010
What will yours be?

Have yourself a very merry White Christmas

Posted by Picasa
So busy, these day, I haven't had much time to post,
I have been playing with a photo edit program, but I can't get
all of them to load on my blog at the same time.  I'm working on it,
I'll leave you with this one that I did accomplish to upload.

Colonial Early American Christmas

I have a love of White & Linen, but I also
love the Colonial Early American look
Rich in History and Charm
Olde Homes, Olde Souls,
The patina of on olde house
When I acquire an old piece, I can't help
but wonder, who owned it, how they used it, how
they acquired it.
If it was part of their family history
I always feel that the piece doesn't truly
belong to me,
it is on loan to me, unil it is passed
on to the next olde soul

Doorways decorated as they were in eary times
Using only items found in the woods

A table setting with fruits and fresh pine
and a Pineapple
Look at the clay pot filled with pine and a little bird
Steal this idea ~ Love it

Adding fresh pine and pinecones, some packages wrapped in
brown kraft paper, tied with ribbon, more pine
around an antique picture and you have
yourself some instant Christmas Cheer
Add some homemade ginerbread men

Smaller pine tree on top of an old table
Old baskets filled with Christmas packages

Long Johns hung on a cupboard with winter stockings,
and some pine and another great decorating idea

Homemade Pine & Pincone swag over the door
Love the old shutters

Spell Merry Christmas using
round tags bought at an office supply store
Age them first, stamp them with small stamps
punch a hole in them, swag them
Love it

Christmas by the Hearth

Quince slices dried and hung on a window

Tree decorated with red and white garland and little silver stars

A beautiful bedroom sparsly decorated
for Christmas

Wishing you happy decorating
I hope your home at the holidays
is everything you dream it could be

Pictures belong to the Internet
thank you

RIP December 1, 1993

Today I remember my brother as I do everyday,
16 years ago today
my brother Ricky passed away
at the young age of 37
I never got to say Good-Bye
or to tell him how much
I Loved him
and for that
I look up to Heaven every day
and tell him
"I Love you & Miss you"
I will do that forever until we meet again
December 1, 1993 - December 1, 2009

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;

Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus’ love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust our Father’s Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

I am sooooo tired from my day in New York City
We walked, and walked and walked
It was a beautiful day, we couldn't have asked for
a better day!
I will be posting pictures later today

I did wear Ugg's for the walking, which were very comfortable, my feet didn't hurt at all,
the Ugg's were my daughters she let me wear them for the day
Thank you, Nicki

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I hope your table is filled with wonderful food, family and friends
And, many blessings for the past year and the year ahead
May we all be blessed with good health, prosperity and the ability to help others
My blessings include those that are no longer with us, but how thankful I was to have had them in my life and to have known the love we had for each other
I always bless the animals, I never forget our faithful companions

White Wednesday

I wanted to share this, for those who haven't seen this
this is from Country Living
Seems easy enough to do and very reasonable
I'm going to try this myself

Written by Jennifer Rizzo

STEP 1: Wash and tumble dry a natural-colored canvas drop cloth--ours measured six by nine feet
($8.44; hardwareworld.com)--a few times to soften the fabric.

STEP 2: Lay the cloth flat. Run a strip of 1/4-inch grout tape down the middle of the fabric widthwise. Then run two additional pieces of tape on each side of the first, spacing them 1/4 inch apart (you'll have five strips total).

STEP 3: Squirt some red fabric paint ($1.89 for two ounces; createforless.com) onto a paper plate and dab a brush in it, off-loading any extra paint onto a paper towel. Working in short strokes, lightly brush the paint on the cloth between the taped areas to catch the grain of the canvas.

STEP 4: Continue to layer the pigment until it appears as dark as desired. Remove the tape once the paint has dried according to the package instructions.

Holiday Decorating

Some Holiday inspiration~
Take a wicker basket, fill it with greens, pinecones, berries and twigs

These little baskets are adorable with candle lights inside

Head on out to the nearest field, woods or your backyard, as I do
Bring your cutters
Gather your greens and decorate you house with them
No fuss, no money to spend
Happy Sunday

White dishes

I have a love of white dishes, they go with anything, you can dress them up for
a holiday, a party, a theme and they can be used in everyday dinning.
I have to confess, I only use my white dishes at Christmas.  I decorate the table
in gold, reds or green, with fresh pine and pinecones.
I have 3 sets of complete dishes, that I have collected.
I have a complete set of old brown transferware, that I use at Thanksgiving.
And, you must believe me, when I tell you that I got the whole set for FREE,
from a genetleman that didn't want them any more, his wife had passed away,
and they were her dishes, so he was glad to see that they went to a good home.
MINE
I'll post about them on another day.
If you don't own a set of White dishes, you can buy a reasonable set, you won't
be disappointed.

You can match new pieces with old pieces
and how about that Linen table runner

Old Soup Tureen ~ Love it

The white dishes are a focal point in this room

Someone loves white dishes

A sinkful of clean dirty dishes

Old white bowls dispalyed on an old chair

What a sweet dislpay, old white platter filled with sugar bowls

Show off your white dishes in a wonderful cupboard, for everyone to enjoy!
You can complete a set or add to a set, hunt for them at church fairs, garage sale, flea markets,
and estate sales even a thrift shop.

Happy Hunting
Blessings~Cheryl
